The World of Pywel
A continent shaped by war, factions, and forces older than either.
The Continent
Pywel is the continent where Crimson Desert takes place. It is described in official material as a vast, seamless landmass divided into five distinct regions, each with its own stories, environments, and challenges. The world ranges from the busy streets of Hernand to frozen tundra, burning desert, rolling grasslands, and dense forest — built to reward exploration and discourage rushing straight to the next objective.
The political landscape of Pywel is defined by competing factions, fragile alliances, and violence that has been building long enough to feel like the natural state of things. The Greymanes were one piece of that puzzle before the Black Bears tore them apart. As Kliff moves through the continent looking for his scattered comrades, he encounters both the local conflicts specific to each region and something darker that operates beyond the mercenary world entirely — tied to a force called the Abyss.

One of Pywel's five regions. Details beyond its existence remain limited in pre-release material.
Details PendingCrimson Desert
The region that gives the game its name — a vast, sun-blasted landscape that features in later portions of the story.
Details PendingThe Abyss
Official pre-release material references a force called the Abyss as part of Pywel's larger conflict — something beyond the mercenary rivalries and factional politics that define Kliff's early story. Details are limited, but fragments and shards associated with the Abyss appear to carry significant threat. The full scope of what the Abyss represents is expected to emerge over the course of the game.
